What is a research Park in the 21st Century?
There is a proposal for large-scale development at a prominent site at the edge of the Stanford University campus and bordering downtown, Palo Alto, California. Your task is to undertake a full study of the area and make a proposal for an innovative 21st Century Research Center.
Shall this land be used exclusively for office or shall it be an 18-hour place vibrant with retail, office, leisure and housing or shall it be something in between or something entirely new?
Working in transdisciplinary teams, you will develop a localized plan for the site that takes an affirmative stance as to its status as campus, or city, or both. The design should consider the needs of the future users, advance green building design, address the need for cutting edge infrastructure, and incorporate smart-growth principals.
